About This Chapter
In this chapter, the protagonist is introduced as "rincon kitchen" , which means "the kitchen princess" . He tells us that whenever he is sad or lonely, he goes to the "fujita diner" to feel better. He asks the director of the place if he can use the "splash page" from the book. The director tells him that he can't use it because the city has decided to close the place. The protagonist says that he's not trying to fight city hall, but that it is too early for him to give up. He says that the place is going to close tomorrow for a meeting of the pta board. The terrace will serve sandwiches for the lunch, and the protagonist says he wants them to eat. He explains that he and his mother have been eating there since he was a kid, and that the food is what he learned from his father. He's addicted to the chef who closes the place, and he wants to talk about his memories of each chapter. He thinks that when they switch to winter clothes, the chef will still wear a tie because he likes it so much. He doesn't know if the food at the diner is good or not, but he guesses that it isn't.
