The scene opens with a soliloquy in which jin tries to convince himself that he is doing the right thing by leaving the prince. He tells himself that the prince has abandoned him and that if he can help him overthrow the prince, he will marry jin as his concubine. He also tells jin that he has been doing the wrong thing by helping the prince bring down his own family. Now that jin is no longer useful to the prince , he is being replaced by the princess of the west conquering. jin asks if the prince is still on the throne, and jin tells him that the king and queen are doing well. He then asks jin to go to the congress with him.
