This chapter opens with a soliloquy by a young man named daoist. He tells his master that he fears that the girl will not believe that he is actually a disciple of the master. He says that his master gave him a sacred weapon that he can use to subdue the demon if the demon does not repent. The young man says that the master gave the weapon to him as a gift from his master and that he will use it to subdue his master's demon. He then tells the young woman that the demon is watching, and that the young man will subdue it. The woman is amazed at this news. She says that she dared to do this, but that she was defeated by her methods. She also says that her master is joking and that she will not wait for him to lose temper. She then asks what is going on, and he says that he knows what the weapon is. She asks him how he knows it, and then she tells him to grab what he knows, and burn it to ashes by his own spells.
