About This Chapter
This chapter opens with a flashback to the previous chapter, in which Lin Yao yue and her sister, Miss Gui Gui, are talking in the song hall. Miss Gui tells her sister that she has heard that Lin yue is wearing a blueish-green embroidered shoe, which she thinks is a symbol of love. She also tells her that she heard Lin ying say the same thing the day before, but forgot to mention it in the water because Miss Gui fell. She tells Miss Gui that she would like to know how she would react to the situation if she were pregnant, and she tells her to be careful bringing alin yue over to her mother's house. She then tells her mistress that if a woman loses her child because of her mistress, the one who deserves punishment would be her mistress being vicious, causing the grandmother to be killed, not the pregnant woman losing her child due to her mistress's frightening or people's not caring who is right or wrong. The mistress then tells the mistress that it was her maid, who pushed the child into the water, and that if the mistress did not tell her honestly, she would send her to judicial office and be executed
