This chapter opens with a flashback to the time when the two of them last saw each other. This time, the two are in the middle of a conversation in a restaurant. The two are discussing the recent events in Hong Kong. They have been invited to a dinner party by a friend of the friend's, who has invited them both to the party. The waiter introduces the two to each other, and the two exchange pleasantries before the dinner party begins. They are interrupted by the arrival of another waiter, who introduces himself as "Tang xiting" . This is the first time that the two have seen each other in a long time, and they are shocked to learn that the waiter is the one who rejected them both in the first place. They both realize that this is the reason why they have not been able to get along well in the past.
