At the end of the first act, the audience learns that the female lead of the upcoming film has been injured in a car accident. The female lead, however, will not play the part of the injured actress because she is an unknown actress. The scene ends with a soliloquy by the protagonist, in which he declares that he will "get even with you" one day.
