At the beginning of the second act, the audience is introduced to the "new star" of the film, Caio Ming-liang, who has just returned from a fight in which he was knocked unconscious. He is introduced as the "youngest actor in the cast" and the "most promising young actor" in the film. The audience is shocked to learn that he has been knocked unconscious in the fight and that his character has suffered a "concussion" . The young actor, however, is not deterred by the news and is determined to prove his worth to the audience. He asks the audience to forgive him for his "impulsiveness" and urges them not to "stand against her"
