The scene opens with a conversation between Caixin and Fang. Caixin tells Fang that he has finally secured a part in the play, and that he is grateful to him for his help in getting the part. He also tells Caixin that he and the director have agreed to meet later that evening. He asks Caixin if he can tell him about the secret of the part, and Caixin says that he will. He then sends a bottle of red wine to the table in his name, and he tells his brother that he likes Caixin very much and admires her. He says that Caixin is a good girl and that they should stop playing with each other. He tells his brothers that he would like to meet Caixin in person, and they both agree to do so.
