When Cang Shu arrives at the fair, he is so impressed by his mother that he wants to stay with her. He tells her that he is afraid that she will suffer the same fate as her mother, who died when she was only a child. When he tells her about the first prize he has won, she tells him that he must have been very careful with the food he ate as a child because his mother would have been angry.
