In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character named Ching-Lin, who is a student at the University of Illinois. He has just returned from his first trip to China, where he met his new roommate, Ming-Feng. He is very upset because he has been told by his mother that he is a "greek tea" and that he should "apologize to the victim" . He asks if there is any need for him to apologize to Ming for his behavior, and Ming replies that he does not need to apologize at all, as he is in a class of "old - fogy" people. He then goes on to explain that he has to go back to class, and he also has to make a "move" to wipe the floor with Ming. He tells Ming that Ming is in love with him, and that Ming has a "sense of crisis" and will do anything to get rid of him. He suggests that Ming should "chase cang-shu strongly" , "conquer feng cang" physically and mentally, "bring jian-feng and cui-xin together," and "seducate jianfeng" to solve the problem
