The scene opens on the playground, where the principal and his students are waiting for the start of the 3000-meter race. The students are excited to see the principal, who has been absent for some time. The principal asks the students why they are still at school, and the students respond by saying that they have to find a substitute for the injured student who was supposed to run in the race. When the students realize that the substitute is not able to see them, the principal asks them to come out to the playground and cheer for the students who are taking part in the competition. The female students cheer loudly for the female competitor, who runs so fast that she can't catch up with the male competitors. The male students try to cheer the female competitors, but they are interrupted by the principal. He tries to calm them down, reminding them that the race is a competition and that they should take it easy on themselves. He tells the female students to follow him and not to let down their new friends. He also tells the male students to stop running because he has never had a low mark because of them on purpose. He asks the female student why she is still running so fast, and she says that she is surrounded by many friends, but that she still looks lonely. The two female students ask the principal to give them first place and to come to the podium to get their medal.
