In this chapter, Cang-Cang and the other students discuss the fact that they don't have to take any classes for a week. They're happy that they're not forced to take classes, because it's nice to know that they can skip a week's worth of classes. Cang cang tells the students that he's prayed for them at the temple the weekend before, and that he hopes they'll get lucky. He tells them to gather in the playground first, and then to go to class one with him. He also tells them that they should tutor class one before the next month's test to improve their average grade. They sleep on bunk beds, and the director asks if they'd like the top bunk or the bottom bunk. They both agree, and cang-cang gives him the choice. He's happy that he can sleep close to the director's bed, because the smell of the bathhouse makes him want to stroke his hand. The director tells him to brush his teeth with toothpaste to relieve his pain, and he agrees.
