In this chapter, we learn that hagusa and his sister are living happily ever after, and that their mother has passed away. Aww, that's kind of weird, right? It's not clear what happened to her, but it's clear that he's never stopped being her father-in-law. He's still the "blessed vessel" that he always was, even when he wasn't around anymore. He tells his sister to pick up her sword and get ready to fight. He says that if something happens to him, he wants her to still be with him, even if he doesn't make it back. He also tells her that if anything happens, he'd like her to stay with him even if it means that he has to go back to the city. He warns her that the enemy is going to kill her before she gets to the crafter, so she has to fight him or else she's going to die. She says that she needs to get some sleep, and then she tells her sister to clear her eyes of hatred. She's her real family, she says, and they have to fight the enemy now, or else they're going to have to die in the snow. She tells him that they've done nothing but take breaks all this time, and he says that he can't bring himself to yell at them about it. The last time he tried to find out what the enemy was doing with the masks, he found out that they were made in large quantities, but that the beauty of form was only created by humans. The beauty of the natural world is beautiful all over the world, he says, but beauty in the human form is only possible because humans are the ones who create it. He asks if there's a man in the world who could be worshipped as a god, and if he has a grave where he can be buried. He wonders if it would be too soon for a god to be worshipped, and
