In this chapter, we learn that the gods are trying to take over the world, and that the old man has been meddling in the affairs of the gods. The gods are also trying to get rid of the girl, because she's a threat to their power. When the girl asks what's going on, the gods tell her that the girl is wanted for high treason by the heavens. The girl says that she doesn't want the girl to die, but she does want to help her. The old man, she says, thinks that he can control the people and the gods like he can do ayakashi. She's done letting him do what he wants, and now she wants to help the girl. She tells the girl that she can't go out there and be hunted down, because the gods don't understand why they're out there. They just want to protect the girl and keep her safe. She says that they need to tell the gods why they are out there, so that they can figure out a way to change the gods' mind. She also says that if they just go out, they can get there, and the heavens will explain to them why they shouldn't be in the middle of a war.
