About This Chapter
The next morning, Roxane wakes up to find that James has confessed his feelings for her. She asks Roxane to come to her room and tell him what happened. She's worried that he's going to ask for her permission to sleep with him again, but she can't figure out how he got her to agree to it. Roxane tells Roxane that she doesn't know if they've confessed their feelings yet, but that she's sure they'll do it on Christmas Day. When Roxane asks why they haven't told her anything, she learns that they're always leaving the shop when they visit the children. She wants to know why they don't say anything to her when she asks them to. She also learns that the postman left a vase for her at the end of last night's episode, but the shop owners didn't come out to say goodbye. She begs them to stop doing this to her, and she wants to hug James. She tells him that he must have had a nightmare the night before, because he held her so tightly that there were marks on her back. She wonders why he has all these nightmares, and why he always has those scary nights when he is afraid of a thunderstorm. She decides to stay close to him, though, because she knows that she still loves him.
