About This Chapter
Jim and Henry are going to visit the grave of their friend, Thomas porter. Jim is sad that he can't find his friend's body, but he's also happy that he'll be able to visit with Henry someday. Jim says that he got used to Henry visiting the grave by himself, but now he feels uncomfortable wearing his new coat. He remembers a time when people lived with spirits, wizards, and dragons, but only their wives believed them. Everyone said that their husband was dead. They walked through the fire, searching for him. A fire spirit told them where his wife was, and if they gave her their hair, the fire spirit would burn it and tell her where her husband is. The woman gave her hair, and a dragon came to speak to her. The story ends with the woman kissing the dragon affectionately.
