About This Chapter
In this chapter, James tries to explain why his hair is growing so quickly. He's worried that Henry has noticed that he's growing hair, which means that Henry's noticed that James is growing too much hair. He wonders how he can get married, since he can't marry anyone. He also wonders why Jenny asked him to marry her, since she's asking him to get married on paper. James then shows off a new washing machine that does all the dirty work for him. It's so cute, in fact, that he starts to feel sad that it only does small pieces of laundry. Sarah and Alice, the girls at the school, come up to him and tell him that they've bought a washing machine so that they can do all their laundry for them. He smiles at them and says that he used to get angry at them for laughing at his ginger hair, but now that he smiles at girls, they seem to like him more. He then asks Sarah if she knows that Henry is a popular guy among boys, and she says yes, he'd be popular among guys. James is shocked that Sarah doesn't know that Henry used to be a headmaster's favorite pet.
