About This Chapter
The narrator recalls a time when he ran out of his room and ran to Henry's room. He was afraid to wake up, so he wandered around his room without saying a word. When he got back to his room, he found a doll on his bed. The doll was made by Henry, and the name "bam" was the name he used only in his mind. Another memory is that when Henry bought him his first pair of shoes, he wanted to keep them forever, but he didn't want to wear them out. He wanted to be able to put them on again when he got home, and so he kept staring at his friend's head when they saw each other. The narrator says that he likes his friends' hands, except when he gets hurt or when he has a fever. He wants Henry to hold him more. A few days later, Henry bought the narrator his own bicycle. He wasn't happy about it.
