The chapter opens with a flashback to the beginning of the story, when Toji and Kiley were lovers. Kiley was pregnant with Toji's child, and Toji was in love with Kiley. When Kiley's baby was born, Toji went to visit her, but Kiley refused to let him stay with her because she was pregnant. When Toji found out that Kiley had been pregnant with his child, he went to see Kiley, but she refused to allow him to stay because of her pregnancy
