The narrator tells the reader that his mother has told him that she has "got her all wrong" and that he has been "cut down" by Toji. The narrator says that he tried to tell her that he liked her, but Toji cut him down and said that he was "some child spoiled" . He says that when she asked him who he liked, he did not tell her but when she found out, she said that she had found out. She says that she is not in the "mood" to listen to his trash talk. She tells him to go back to school and get ready for class. She asks why Toji has not come to pick her up. He tells her that they haven't spoken for two days and that she was a "litterbug" , absent from school. She has a bruise on her leg and has been unable to talk for a long time. She calls him back and tells him that he should have come with her. He asks if this means that she and Toji are not getting along, and she says that it is because of him that they don't get along. She also says that the teachers have told the class that Toji is in the hospital for appendicitis and that they should not tell momo that he is there.
