The next day, the two of them discuss the upcoming festival, which is to be held in Shimada, Chiba Prefecture, in mid-June. The festival committee is looking for a date for Shimada to attend the festival, and they need Shimada's help in arranging a date. Shimada tells the two that their classes are very different, and that they will not be able to make any money during the festival. He tells Shimada that he is worried about what he will do after graduating, because he got dumped by his first girlfriend, and she might have been in love with his best friend. He says that he can't worry about what his future will be, as long as he still has "lingering feelings" for his childhood friend, ishihara sano. He asks Shimada if he can go to a light music club to see a show, and Shimada says he will. He also says that Shimada is in the courtyard, posing for promotional photos, and he wants to know why she is doing this. He thinks that she must have told him that he was supposed to go to the festival because he saw her there. He goes to the courtyard to find out what happened between Shimada and Tachibana after he broke off their relationship. He finds out that the festival committee has a beauty contest, too, and is replacing Shimada with a tall, third-year model. He wonders if Shimada would have won by default if she had not broken off her relationship with him two weeks ago.
