About This Chapter
In this short scene, we learn that Hirokazu is in love with his childhood friend, Suzumi, and that he is going out with him. He asks Suzumi to tell him what is wrong, and Suzumi agrees to do so. He tells her that he wants her to go to Tachibana's house and tell her what's wrong. Suzumi says that she can't worry about her job now, because she's going to talk to her childhood friend. She tells him that she'll never be friends with anyone who's a "child hood friend," and that she doesn't care if he loves her or hates her. She's fine with it, she says, because that's the way she likes it. She says she could tell that he was in love back then, but that he's just going about it the wrong way now. She asks him if he hates her or loves her, and he says that he would never do that, because he'd never say he hates his "childhood friend" . He's worried about his relationship with Suzumi now, and says that it's making him feel sick. He wants to "burn it all down" , he says. He says he loves Suzumi too, and asks her to come with him to the river to eat some food.
