In this chapter, we are introduced to a new character named "Swish" . She is a young girl who has come to the southern border to find the "demons" of the southern hemisphere. She wants to go to the place where they live, but she is afraid that the place looks "primitive" and "more unexpected dangers" there. When she asks if she can go with her, she is told to hold "swish" at her command. She tells him that she will protect him, and he tells her that he will protect her. He says that he has given her an insect as a "special gift" and that she should be grateful for it. He explains that the insect is poisonous because they bear no grudges against each other. He adds that he gave her the insect so that she could become a "venerative witch" , and that after she had become a witch, she would get what she wanted. He tells her to watch her back, because if she dies, she will also be killed. He then tells her about the "veterinary insects" and how they fight each other and let each other live.
