In the middle of the night, the prince's servant, Shu Shu, knocks on Shu's door and tells him that he has heard that his cousin, Lingyue, has returned from the forbidden land. Shu tries to convince his cousin to go back to his house, but his cousin refuses, saying that he will not hurt him. The prince, however, does not believe him, and sends his servant to fetch Lingyue.
