In this chapter, Jim is confused by the behavior of his fiance, who is blushing and avoiding his eyes. He wonders if he is finally in love with her. He also wonders why he is looking so shy when he is supposed to be in love. He tells his fiance that he is the junior colleague of his future brother-in-law's, and that he won't apologize for interrupting their date night. He asks if his family recognized him, and he explains that he was surprised that his family didn't recognize him because he looked a bit different today. He says that he has been keeping a close eye on him, but that he doesn't know who his fiance is.
