The narrator tells us that he's not sure what's going on. He doesn't really know what to say, so he tells everything he knows about his relationship to the guy. He's also not sure if she's a friend or not. The narrator says that she was in a lot of different relationships, and that she betrayed one of her friends. She's now old enough to be a friend, but she still feels like a coward. He says that he feels sorry for himself, but he can't figure out what to do about it. He wants to know if she has a boyfriend, and the manager says she probably does. The manager says they should send her home, because she must be sick. He tells her to go to the hospital, and she agrees to go. She tells the manager that she'll be fine, but that there's still "an empty space within" of her. She says she hopes that a good relationship will always lead to a happy ending, but not with a bad one. She apologizes, and they meet again
