In this chapter, we learn that Jim has become much more serious in his relationship with Nelly. He has bought her flowers for the first time. He tells Nelly that he is sure that she will follow them as they go to his house. He also tells her that he has renovated his house so that it is like a five-star hotel. He says that Nelly made herself comfortable in his home, and that he missed the chance to send her away.
