In this chapter, the narrator asks the reader to imagine that she is in love with a boyfriend. The narrator, who has never met a boyfriend in her life, wonders if the tone of his boyfriend's conversation is different than that of the other students in her class. She tells the reader that she has never experienced such a tone in her own life, and she wonders if she can stop being so annoying to her boyfriend. She wonders if her boyfriend is just like the students in the class she is studying, and if he is in a relationship with someone else. She also wonders whether she will look over her boyfriend zealously if she responds to him in such a way. She says she is only teaching her as an intern, and that she does not want to put her boyfriend in a difficult situation if someone sees the two of them going out. The two students discuss their relationship, which has been going on for a year. They first got together on their birthday, and this is their second anniversary together. They are always cold to each other, and they even run away from each other when they see each other. He tells her that he would blush if he said more words to her, but she says that she did not dare to do so because she was afraid that she would be too clingy and that her boyfriend would dislike her for it.
