About This Chapter
The narrator tells the reader that he hasn't been able to figure out what he's going to do now that he knows where the boy is. He says that he just looked out of his window to see if he could find the boy. He's afraid that if he does find him, he'll switch him over to playing the piano. The narrator says that the boy has been spoiled, and that he doesn't know how to deal with it. He asks the narrator to go to the boys' school first to find out what's up with the boy, since he is the only person who's seen him. He also says that since the narrator is a terrible photographer, he deserves a lot of praise for being a "devil" . He tells the narrator that he took his advice to find ways to "open my heart" , and to find a way to be accepted in the music community. Now, he says, no one will notice that he is a professional student. He used to feel like he was cheating to be a layman, but now he realizes that he can also bring joy to people by being a good musician. He adds that he used to be happy to hear professionals praise him, but that doing the right thing is even more important, since it's people like him who are also good at music. He wonders if he likes being nice to the stranger, and the narrator replies that he does, and he thanks the narrator for giving him something to thank his dream about.
