About This Chapter
"Till inpatient department" is the title of this chapter's soliloquy. It's a short speech in which the narrator laments the fact that no one recognizes him. He's been in the hospital for ten years, and no one has ever seen him before. He doesn't even remember the name of the person who has been watching him. The narrator says that fate has cut their ties, and fate has left them with a " hickey" . After all, after the ties between two people are stronger than others, they're bound to be stronger than anyone else. He says that if fate had cut our ties, then fate must have cut us off from each other. He also says that he misses him so much that it's unfair that he'll never be able to recognize him in the mirror. He calls her heartless, and says that she can't be so heartless. She says that even if she were a vip, she'd have to take care of the patient alone.
