In the morning, Duke Senior wakes up. He asks the eagle to deliver a message to his brother, the Duke of Albany. The eagle does so, and Duke Senior tells him that Albany's majesty has ordered the confiscation of all of Duke Senior's possessions. Duke Senior is touched to see that his brother is bidding farewell to him, and he asks why he didn't remember what he had promised him. He says that he promised him that they would bury each other together when they both die, but now that he knows that Duke Senior has betrayed him, he will kill him and force him to teach him how to cultivate the herb.
