In this chapter, the fire-breathing monster, the "Fire-Lord" , tries to destroy the town of Tulkinghorn, but the monster is too weak to fight him. The fire-gods, he tells us, are too weak against water-fire, and they can't even defeat the "water-god" . He tells the monster to "put out those flames" and he'll give him some power for a while, but he won't be able to defeat the other dragon gods. He says he wants to fight the other one, but only once he's stronger.
