The chapter opens with a description of the "last hope punching machine" in the southern part of the continent. It's a jellyfish walking in the distance, and the narrator tells us that he's never eaten a jellyfish before. He's also worried that they're poisonous, and that he might die if he eats them. The narrator says that he doesn't want anyone to die from eating these strange creatures, but he also says that they have to be very careful because they've got pins and curses on them. He adds that they need to be careful because this is a strange continent with strange life forms. He says that if they can't complete the quest, then they don't have anyone in the world who can complete it. He then says that Gilbert was trying to get rid of acnologia, but the dragons didn't act until something really big happened. So, Gilbert would have been able to get through to the northern part of guiltina, too, if it weren't for the fact that the dragons stayed hidden. He also points out that the quest is open to anyone who wants it, and he wants a chest of gold to get his head around. He wants a cat named frosch, and a chest full of flowers to get him around the world. He even wants a woman named Touka, who knows the name of a man named briar. He remembers that she knew his name a year ago, when they captured him. He wonders if there's something weird about the "first rule" .
