In this chapter, we find out that Elmire is no longer the "water dragon god" . She is now "no longer the cutting heart" , and she is "not worth consuming." Elmire, however, is not about to give up. She wants to know what will happen if she burns the ashes of her temple. She decides that she can use all of the fire she has in the room to destroy Elmire's armor, but she can't use physical attacks on him. She's afraid that if she does, he'll freeze, and the sound of swords clashing will make him his opponent. Elmire says that he's "burning to go cha," and he compares his sword to a "ma pound pound pound sword edge ! . . wham hot / Whoom no effect !" . He compares his armor to a boat, and he says that the boat is "no fair," and that he is a "dragon slayer, too." He compares himself to the old generation of dragon slayers, who used to "have it rough ! au at co-tang tang / tang tang brilliant." . he says, "you're strong ! the sword / that protects its ! can bear no weak !"
