In this short scene, kangyuan apologizes to Niki for his lies. He tells her that his parents are not in America and that he is trying to pay off his father's gambling debts. Niki asks him if he still wants to be with her, and he replies that he does. He explains that in love, "everyone is equal" and asks her what she would want most from him if she were tired or hungry from work. She replies that she would like a hot meal, an unpleasant scolding, or a kiss. He apologizes right after that and says that she has the right of choice if she is going to forgive him. He says that the 7th Law between couples says that if it is getting harder for you to see your lover, you will grow more anxious. The 8th Law says that actions speak louder and more clearly than words. He asks if he can skip to the philosophy part of the scene, and she answers that she does not know. He is on his way to the hospital, where his father has a heart attack. He needs surgery now, and has not yet paid off the debt he owes. He wants to use some of his money to pay for the surgery, but he says that he has some spare money, so he will give it to her first. He gives her some oatmeal and nuts to eat, and tells her to have some food for herself.
