The narrator asks why he risked his life to save the girl. The girl is simple, kind, and a little weak. She and her boyfriend had been together for 8 years and were about to get married. The girlfriend went to the mistress and showed the company they were working for. The mistress knelt to her and said that the girl was attractive, rich, well educated, and upright. The narrator defends the girl, saying that she is a coworker of his and that she does not want to live. He says that he has become a third wheel unintentionally, and that he is jealous of the kind of people like him. He adds that those who are able to work are the ones who have the right to do so. He had done research in every store and found that some clothes looked like they were selling really well, but the profit was much lower. He suggests that they split their business into the middle and the high end. He asks for a driver to take him to the hotel where he will tell his parents the truth. When he arrives at the hotel, he finds that his assistant is very good at her job, and he thanks her for coming all the way. He is pleased to meet his colleague, who had not told his parents about the break-up
