About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a description of the territory of the group, which extends west of the mountain. The group's main objective is to gather coins, and the only way to do so is to circle around the territory. The narrator tells us that he was in the same high school class as his sister elena, who committed suicide. He says that elena was someone he could trust, and that she was suspicious of the motives of the other students. He adds that she murdered her own parents and countless others, and he believes that she is a cold-blooded killer. He explains that he has to tell everyone about his sister's death because someone has already collected a hundred coins in the area where they are standing. The only reason he can think of for keeping other collectors away from the area is to keep them from looking for coins. If they capture one of the weaklings, they can sit back and watch them collect coins for them.
