About This Chapter
Three weeks have passed since the last chapter, and we're back in the middle of the action. We're introduced to the protagonist, who's been hiding out in a cave in the woods. He's not sure what's happened to his friends, but he's pretty sure that they've been killed by the monster. He doesn't want to die, he says, so he ran away from his friends to try and save them. He tells us that if everyone had fought like that, he wouldn't have been able to save his friends. He also says that if he hadn't spoken up, the monster would've killed his friends anyway. The protagonist is all, "I can do anything no one person can" . But then he realizes that his friends are alive, and that the monster must've set them up. He asks the protagonist why he came to check on them, and the protagonist tells him that he must have been one of the girl's allies. He says that he did his best to save the guys, but that some of them were burned to death. He adds that he'd done his best, but some of his friends were killed. He then tells the protagonist that the girl must have set the group up, because she's "one hell of a bitch" , and she must have planned the whole thing. This is not the kind of person who just thinks up a plan on the spot, the protagonist says. He wants to sacrifice his friends for the sake of his own life, but the protagonist knows that he can't do that, because he'll be dead soon. So, he tells the
