This is a locked chapterChapter 34: Aiko's True Identity
About This Chapter
The chapter opens with a flashback to a time before the events of the previous chapter. The narrator tells us that it was not easy for the girl to adjust to her new home after her father's arrest. Her mother ran away and abandoned her, leaving her without a place to call her own. Aiko's family was wealthy, and she had everything, but could not afford to live with the alien, so she had to become a "aiko." The narrator explains that the only way to bring "honoka to justice" is for someone to know the truth about her crimes. The only people who can do this are the people who have spent time in both of them, and they are the ones who can bring her to justice. They are the only ones able to do it, because they know what they are talking about. They do not believe that aiko could have been murdered, but they do believe that it is too dangerous for them to ignore the warning of the alien. They believe that if they continue to act normally, they will not be harmed. They also believe that they will be able to keep their secret, since they have grown up since the last time they were together. They remember the old building where they used to live, and how small it was. They think that it looks like it is now, because it has grown up. They imagine that they were before them, but that they are too late to return to the old way of life. They have been told that the death was a suicide, and that a note addressed to "Honoka" was found in the girl's hand.
