About This Chapter
Carrion's servant, Rimu, tells him that the town is a perfect place for him to rule. Rimu is sorry that he didn't tell Carrion sooner, but he's also sorry that his wife ran away before he could stop her. He's sorry that she jumped out of her hiding place when he was trying to stop her, but Rimu doesn't want to hurt her, so he gives her a spanking. Carrion tells Rimu to stop talking and listen to what the other men have to say. He says that Rimu's actions will only lead to war between the forest of Juara and the city of Carrion. He warns Rimu that if he gets into a fight, he'll get into trouble with Carrion, and Rimu won't be able to get revenge. He tells Carrion that he'd rather not provoke him into a war, and he suggests that they call on the dryads to prove his claim to the forest. Rimur says that he can't talk to anyone about what Carrion has to say, because they have an agreement not to talk to each other. He also says that if Carrion sends a message the next day, he will talk to Rimu.
