In the midst of the fight between the two armies, the sceptre asks the demon lord what he's thinking about the future. The demon lord tells him that he needs to think about how he can be a good ally for the humans, rather than an enemy. He thinks that if the demon lords can serve as a buffer between the humans and the other demon lords, then they'll be less likely to attack each other. He also thinks that the holy church will rise up against the new demon lord and not sit back and wait for him to come along. The two men talk about the road that they're going to have to take to get back to the capital city of Rimuru, where the temple knights are holding their prison. They've had three days to get there, and they haven't heard anything from the other side yet. The only thing they've heard from is that the queen is not participating in the battle. The other demon lord says that if he had more power, he'd be able to fight back against the old man. The old man's curse has just ripped away his old life, and he doesn't have any reason to believe that the other world's soldiers will obey him in spirit. The east, he says, is going to assume forma-tion and attack the city.
