This chapter opens with a description of the monster, which is described as a beast descending on the world, bringing disaster, and chaos. The monster is hungry and has a unique skill: he can "starve" . The narrator tells us that the monster is the king of the Orc people, and that he has come to seek help from the "mighty." He says that if the ogre village had not been destroyed, he would have come to the Orcs instead, but that he is not ready to lead the charge yet. He wonders if the orcs are empty after all, and wonders if they used the dead bodies for food. He then asks if he can speak to the lizardmen directly, and if they would be willing to negotiate with him. He suggests that they walk all over him, so that the orc army will not be able to catch up with them. He also suggests that if they wanted to attack the main lizardman army, they could easily do so. He concludes that the lizardman leader, gabiru, would never be defeated by anyone less than his leader.
