The men are ready for their mission. They have been waiting for the Orc lord, but now they see that the lizard men are eating their own man. The Orc man is sure that it was a mistake to bring the men with them. He is angry that he has been caught in the crossfire. He tells his father that they will camp for the night. He asks if he talked to Kubrai about the rewards he promised him, and he learns that he was supposed to be a personal guard for the chieftain. He wonders why he was out on his own, and his father asks him if he is trying to steal. He says that he came to talk to the lizard about an alliance, and that he will pay for his insolence. He also says that they cannot mission for him because he has a clandestine but they cannot send for him. He begs his father to forgive him for defying his orders, and to save the chieftain and his brother.
