This chapter's epigraph comes from a line in the play's first chapter, in which the narrator describes a demon lord who eats his own arm to heal. The narrator says that the demon lord's eating is a sign that he is a threat to the king, and that the king should leave the matter to the monster. The monster replies that they can't stop him unless they kill him instantly, but they'll need to feed him more if they want to continue the fight.
