In this short scene, the Governess and her Governess-in-waiting, Miss Jessel, are about to go to bed. The Governess wants to make sure that the boy she's about to have sex with doesn't slip into her room and steal her "snack" . She wants him to tell her that he's having sex with her, too, so that she'll be able to figure out what's going on with him.
