In this chapter, we learn that the patterns on the Panda's wings point to the different ranks of the Panda, and that it is up to the Panda to figure out how to defeat the Panda. The Panda tries to get close to the Tree of Knowledge, but the Panda can't see him. He tries to hit the Tree with a thud, but it doesn't work, and he realizes that he will have to try another move to get closer to the tree. He tells himself that he has to try a new move, because he cannot see the tree with him anymore. He says he will try a light swoosh, and then a heavy swoosh, to try and get himself close enough to see the Tree. He then tells himself to blast the Panda and his wings with his sword. He almost loses the fight, but she puts up a brave fight. She smells the "blood of supreme yin," and he tells her that she can die now that she is no longer useful. She thinks she can kill him, but he says he won't let her.
