The scene opens with a flashback to the night before, when Hirokazu's mistress, kawai, was raped by Hirohito's servant. As the scene opens, the maid's husband tells her that he has come to take revenge on the servant who raped her. He tells her to kiss him, and she does so. The scene then switches to Hirokaze's office, where he is waiting for her to return from the brothel. The maid, who has been working as a lap dancer for the past few days, is still waiting for him. She is so upset that she cries out in pain. She begs him to come back to her, but he refuses, saying that he is too busy with his own business to worry about her. When she asks him to leave, he says that she should not be allowed to do so, as he is not free to do what he pleases. She tells him that she is sorry that she has done such a thing, but that it was due to her going to the brothel, and that she cannot forgive herself for her impropriety. He asks her to raise her head, but she refuses. She says that the first thing she does when she is in a situation like this is to apologize, but when she sees that she did it, she exclaims that she really did it.
