In this short scene, we learn that the Governess is in love with her lover, but she's worried about how she'll be able to keep him from seeing what he's about to do to her. She wants to make sure that he doesn't see what's going on between her and him, and she wants him to know that she loves him. She's also worried that he'll find out that she has been having an affair with another man. The Governess tells us that she'd rather have sex with the other man than have him find out about her affair with him.
