At the beginning of the chapter, Hiroshi tells us that it's "too late" for him to fall in love with his ex-wife. He's already told her that he'll be going out with her, and he's happy to hear that she's going to talk to him about the "restau sion" . Hiroshi says that he plans to work with her on a project that will expand the restaurant, but that he doesn't want to be a stand-up guy anymore. He says he'd like to work more often with her for a while, but he wants to be careful not to be "stand-up" for too long. He thanks Hiroshi for his "extra meringue" , and Hiroshi promises to see him the next day. He tells Hiroshi that he can't understand how the two of them could get along after their divorce, but Hiroshi assures him that they'll get along eventually. He asks if he ever got on a "cable car," and he says he did, but it wasn't as scary as it is now. He then asks if she can see the sea, and she says she can, too. She says she got on the first one when she was in grade school, and it was "a few wow," and then she says it was the "most wow" she'd ever seen. She tells him to reach for the "let's go" sign, and they go for a walk. She's embarrassed that Hiroshi's smile makes her heart flutter, but she says that seeing him walking outside made her feel "like i was doing something wrong," and she wants to try making her own herb, rosemary, when she finishes making art.
