About This Chapter
It's been four days since the last time we saw each other, and now that we're alone together, it's time to get back to the present. We're back in the present, and the narrator is complaining about how late it is to get married. He's also complaining about the fact that marriage isn't on the rise, and that he's being told that marriage is "outdated" and "out of date" . He wonders if marriage is actually the end of the world, and if he can share it with the future. He also wonders if he has a cynical attitude about life, and he wonders if his life is not going to go away, and so he wants to marry someone who is more optimistic about his future. The narrator is also complaining that being alone makes him feel lonely, and she wonders if she's become so self-centered that she can't really care anymore about him. She's happy to have tea from her editor, who's kind enough to let her know that the forest plateau resort where they're staying is a great place to hang out. She also asks him if he'd like to have some lamb for dinner. He doesn't want to eat it, but he thinks it'd make a good main dish. He says he'll have tea with his editor, and then he heads back to bed.
